Following the August 15 reunions of separated families, the government plans to push for setting up a visitation facility, the exchange of letters, allowing people to make remittances to North Korea and visits to hometowns, revealed a high ranking Chong Wa Dae official.

These issues will be raised at the 2nd South-North ministerial meetings to be held from August 29 to 31 and the Red Cross meetings scheduled for September. The official added that plans are in the works to arrange a 2nd round of reunions sometime around Chusok, a holiday of thanksgiving in September. The expansion of reunion activities and inclusion of the long-term overseas Korean residents in reunion events will also be discussed with Pyongyang.
