Lee Hai-Chan, chief policymaker of the ruling Millennium Democratic Party, Tuesday repeated the government¡¯s stance that it will not make any more concessions to doctors, even as it continues talks with the medical sector. Lee warned that any doctors violating the law would be dealt with according to the law. Lee said that the government would forcibly return specialist doctors, currently striking, back to their posts, and warned that those who did not return would have their medical licenses revoked.

Lee spoke on the administration¡¯s stance at a meeting held with 500 MDP members, including both the party`s core officials, such as chairman Suh Young-Hoon, and heads of the party`s district chapters. Lee warned that the next month would be crucial to seeing through the medical reform, and that the success of the reform was linked to the success of other government reform programs. The MDP also adopted a declaration calling for doctors` immediate return to work, driving home the necessity of the medical reforms.
