Funeral held for 13 bus crash victims

A funeral for 13 fatalities of a bus crash was held August 7, 24 days after the accident, at the gym at Pooil Foreign Language High School in Busan.

About 1,000 students and bereaved family members attended.

The students were killed on the way home from a school excursion. Twelve were cremated at Youngrak Park crematory in Busan, and one was buried at Samdeok Park cemetery in Yangsan City, South Kyongsang Province.

Meanwhile, the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education awarded an honor to the 13 victims to extol their spirit of self sacrifice, as they failed to escape the crash after helping other students to get off first.
