Institute to pursue technology creation

The Korea Institute of Science & Technology held a hearing titled "KIST Vision 21 Program" on August 1 at the international conference hall of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry building to declare a fresh start, with nearly 300 industry experts participating.

According to the program, the KIST plans to focus its efforts on the development of original technology and basic technologies in preparation for future demand under the vision to emerge as a leading research institute by securing international-level technological capability by the year 2010.

In this connection, the KIST intends to introduce a new research paradigm and run the institute as a reformative research organization by recruiting experienced researchers, evaluating research results and being selective in research projects, and allocating 50% of its research budget to joint projects.
