Officer dies in responding to bar fight

An officer called to a drinking establishment where intoxicated men had turned violent became a victim and lost his life.

The officer fell at the hands of drunk customers who were arguing with the owner concerning the amount of the tab around 1 a.m. Aug. 1. The customers turned their attention toward the police officer, who was knocked unconscious and later died at a hospital.

The customers had consumed a quantity of beer that brought their tab to 160,000 won, but they refused to pay on the grounds that they were given beer that they had not ordered. The owner then called 112 to request a police officer to handle the situation.
