Four South Korean films will be presented to North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, who is known to be a movie buff.

Culture and Tourism Minister Park Jie-Won said Aug. 2 that he will present the four movies to North Korean National Defense Commission Chairman Kim when he visits Pyongyang with a group of presidents of newspapers and broadcasting companies Aug. 5.

The films are "Chunhyang-dyon," "Bicheonmu," "Christmas of August" and "Organ in My Mind," according to the minister.

In a luncheon meeting with cultural editors from media outlets, Minister Park explained that "Chunhyang-dyon" was chosen because Chairman Kim expressed interest in the work during his summit meeting with President Kim Dae-Jung in June.

Chairman Kim became particularity curious about the artistic world of director Im Kwon-Taek when he found out "Chunhyang-dyon" advanced to the main contest of the Cannes Film Festival.
