World Bank willing to assist North Korea

James Wolfensohn, president of the World Bank, sent a letter to President Kim Dae-Jung stating that the organization is willing to provide economic assistance to North Korea.

Presidential Spokesperson Park Joon-Young said yesterday that Wolfensohn expressed in the letter the World Bank`s willingness to support inter-Korean economic cooperation. It also said that the World Bank hopes to assist in the development of North Korea within its capacity and mandate whenever the North Korean authorities are ready to work with it.
