North Korea and the United States held talks in Berlin July 20 on improving bilateral relations, which continued from the previous day. Well-informed sources said that North Korean Vice Minister Kim Kye-Hwan and U.S. special envoy Charles Kartman presented their basic stances on the first day of the talks, which were held at the U.S. embassy in Berlin, and confirmed each others` viewpoints.

The two parties will reportedly discuss the agenda for a meeting between North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam-Sun and U.S. Secretary of State Madeline Albright. The meeting will take place during the Asian Regional Forum in Bangkok, Thailand, which opens July 24.
