The Seoul Metropolitan Policy Agency announced that it will take a stern legal action against violent demonstrators, in the wake of violence used by unionists in recent demonstrations.

The police reported that 49 police officers and riot police have been wounded by demonstrators since the June 29 Lotte Hotel labor dispute. In view of the rising toll of wounded policemen, it stated that it will take a hard-line stance towards illegal violent unionists, although it will continue to actively protect peaceful demonstrators.
