Three world-class soloists will be on the same stage. Isabelle Faust, a 45-year-old German violinist, Alexander Melnikov, a 43-year-old Russian pianist, and Jean-Guihen Queyras, a 50-year-old French cellist, will be perform together at LG Arts Center in Seoul on March 7. It is for the first time to be on the same stage together in Korea, although they performed as a solo or a duo in Korea before.

The concert is attracting a lot of attention as it tied in the third place in the chamber music category among the most anticipated concerts in 2017 by the Dong-A Ilbo.

“The most highlighted three pianists of this era will play Schumann’s entire piano trios. The three individuals who are a perfect chamber music partner and have a strong reputation as a soloist are expected to show excellent performance,” Hwang Jang-won, a music critic, said. “It is a good opportunity to listen to the performance of the best performers in this ear on the same stage,” Choi Eun-gyu, another music critic, also said.

They emerged as the top soloists in the 1990s and started to play together around a decade ago. They have concerts and release albums individually, but they have been focusing on Schumann for the recent two years. Their three albums containing Schumann’s violin, piano and cello concertos and one of the piano trios won the German Record Critics’ Award Association, the Editor’s Choice by Gramophone, and the Echo Klassik award. They will play Schumann’s entire piano trios for the upcoming concert.
