SRT linking Dongtan and Suseo to start service on March 8

A Super Rapid Train (SRT) that connects Dongtan in Hwaseong and Suseo in Gangnam will begin service . The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and SRT operator Supreme Railways (SR) said on Friday that an SRT train with 410 seats departing Dongtan Station at 7:38 a.m. from Mondays to Fridays will start operation starting from next Friday.

The Dongtan-Suseo SRT train was introduced in December 2016 but stopped service in April the following year due to reduced number of passengers. But the influx of population to the Dongtan 2 New City has caused significant inconvenience to the residents commuting to Seoul, resulting in reopening of the service.

The SRT commuter train will operate until the Great Train Express (GTX) A line connecting Samseong in Seoul and Dongtan opens service. “Passengers with a commutation ticket will be entitled to use the train first. After careful monitoring, we will sell empty seats to other passengers, if there are enough of them,” an SR official said.
