Samsung Electronics Co. held its first artificial intelligence technology forum in Beijing, China on Thursday, showcasing its AI-optimized component solutions including semiconductors and display devices.
Organized by Samsung’s Device Solutions division in China, the forum drew attention from major Chinese information technology companies such as Baidu, Xiaomi, and Hikvision.
At the event, Larry Heck from Samsung Research America, Yin Shouyi, a professor at the Institute of Microelectronics, Tsinghua University in China, and Chen Tianshi, chief executive of Chinese technology start-up Cambricon, made presentations on the latest trends in AI technology and future outlooks. Various Chinese AI companies participated in panel discussions, emphasizing that high-performance and high-efficiency component solutions are essential in the industry’s growth.
Samsung’s Device Solutions division unveiled the High Bandwidth Memory 2 dynamic random access memory and various mobile application processors featuring high performance and low power consumption. The Korean tech giant also introduced the newly launched extreme ultraviolet 7 nanometer process and a variety of AI total solutions.
Samsung Display also unveiled new display devices including organic light-emitting diodes, stressing that the roles of display devices will become more important as the interface for human-to-human and human-to-machine communication in hyper-connected society.
