President Park Geun-hye said at National Economic Advisory Council on Thursday, “The National Assembly should pass bills for economic vitalization and job creation and next year’s budget in a timely manner.”

President Park’s concern is growing about the delay in the review of the budget proposal for next year. The president said, “If next year’s budget and bills do not pass the National Assembly, companies’ investment plans will end up nothing. It will deal a blow to the reviving economy and increase the people’s pain.”

In the meeting, President Park ordered co-branding of employment and welfare programs to help easier access to the people; setting roles and principles on expenses to reduce the conflict between the central and local governments; and developing creative ideas to help cooperation between ministries for the service industry.

The advisory council, which used to be held at the presidential office, was held at the Korea Development Institute (KDI) in Hongleung, Seoul. Cho Won-dong, top economic policy secretary to the president, said, “It is our last meeting in Seoul before moving to Sejong City. This closes KDI’s Hongleung era when it led the development as a think-tank in the 1970s.” President Park has great affection for KDI established by her father. Many members of the cabinet and the advisory council are from KDI. President Park wrote on the guestbook Thursday, “Hopefully, the cradle of economic development could generate a creative economy.”
