A Seoul court on Friday ordered SK Communications to pay damages to 2,882 users whose personal information was leaked in a massive hacking attack. The company`s Web portal Nate and social networking site Cyworld were hacked in July 2011, which was led to the leak of personal information of 35 million people.

The Seoul Western District Court awarded 200,000 won (185 U.S. dollars) to each of the victims, saying, "SK Communications failed to be aware of that an abnormal case of 35 million people`s personal information was made into a file and leaked in various stages on the day of the attack..

The ruling said the company must assume responsibility for negligence of management. The plantiffs had lost the same casein two lawsuits in November last year and last month and how the ruling of the appellate trial will turn out remains unknown.
