The National Archives of Korea accused yesterday 10 former presidential officials allegedly involved in the leakage of state records by former President Roh Moo-hyun. However, the list of the accused does not include Roh.

The organization said, “We decided to accuse the leakage of presidential records in accordance with law and principles in order to fully recover the leaked records and reestablish law and order.” An official from the National Archives of Korea registered the accusation with the prosecution yesterday afternoon.

The National Archives of Korea said, “The Act on Presidential Record Management stipulates that anyone who leaks presidential records shall be punished. The Criminal Procedure Act stipulates that public officials shall be accused when they are considered to have committed a crime.”

The organization accused former presidential officials after concluding that the “full restoration” of leaked records will be hard through consultations or requests.

Regarding the accusation, the former president’s camp strongly opposed, saying that it is an attempt to “undermine the former administration.”
