SK Telecom Co., the nation’s largest mobile carrier, said that it decided to pay 5,060 won per subscriber in compensation for a two-hour 3G service disruption that occurred on Wednesday in southern Seoul including Gangnam, Seocho and Songpa.

The company said on Thursday, “For those who suffered inconvenience due to service disruption, we will subtract 5,060 won from their bills next month upon their request at customer centers and sales agencies. The amount is 10 times the amount stipulated in the terms of agreement.”

A company official said, “We estimate there were some 650,000 subscribers in the disrupted areas.” If all of them apply for compensation, the total amount would be close to 3.29 billion won.”
