The military and the police launched a joint investigation into a shooting accident in which gun were fired directly at two traveling vehicles.

About 100m ahead of the exit of Baekyang Tunnel in Danggam-dong, Busan at around 4:45 a.m. on February 11, a loaded bullet passed through a Carnival van from the left side of the backseat to the right side window as 51-year-old Yu drove the car along the road.

As another Carnival traveled some 100m behind the first van, a loaded bullet then again hit the vehicle on the same location. The bullet flew in from the driver seat window and went out the passenger seat window after going past by the arm of the driver, 35-year-old Gang.

Both bullets flew in from the driver side and made a hole with 2 to 5cm diameter on the window. In the vehicles, there were three and two passengers respectively besides the drivers, and there was no report of casualties. The police found traces of the bullets on the wall but was not able to find the bullets.

˝According to the initial investigation, the bullets were shot directly aimed at the vehicles moving a 100km speed from a location within a 30m distance,˝ said a source from the police investigation team.

The police now believed that the shooting accident is not just a prank but the shooter was aimed at the driver seats of the moving vehicles from somewhere in the opposite direction, a killing attempt similar to the indiscriminate shootings that took place in the U.S. last year.

Meanwhile, the military and the police are focusing their efforts on finding bullets assuming that the gun used for the shooting was an air gun or a rifle with a muffler given there was no loud bang sound at the time of the attack.
