`Northern alliance forces suffocating to death Taliban 1000 prisoner of war who were driven into a giant container`

The recent issue of Newsweek (date of 26th) covering Afghanistan war provides an in-depth article claiming that more than 1000 Taliban prisoner who had surrendered to Konduz were intentionally killed and suspecting the united states and other international institutions of any involvement.

Following is a summary of the article.

Mahamed was designated as truck driver of the container to transport on November Taliban prisoners to Shebergan. He arrived on Nov. 28, the previous day of departure and witnessed hundreds of Taliban prisoners boarding the container, who were stripped of their clothes.

Mohamed made some air holes in the container and put some food at the request of prisoners asking for some mercy avoiding tight security.

However another driver who attempted to help the prisoners who were in his truck container were detected and jailed after beating-binge by militiamen.

People in the containers became hell. The captured crying for help went silent with time.

"Thirst drove me crazy. We licked each other’s sweats to quench thirst. After several times people went crazy. Survivors numbered only 40. As driver opened the door, dead bodies poured like dead fishes (testimony from Taliban survivor).

The dead bodies were buried in an area that was 15 minutes away by a car from the prison. Neighboring people said they witnessed the soldiers burying the bodies with bulldozer.

It is estimated that more than 960 Taliban prisoners have been killed. However the spokesman of a general who were leading Northers Alliance Forces strongly denied such a charge claiming that 100-120 prisoners went dead because of their wounds while on the move.

There is no physical evidence showing the United States directly involving such homicides. However the US is not likely easily to get off the hook. Because it is found out that its special squad stationed there for three days.

A memorandum verifying such genocides is also available. It says," Given the fact that this genocide is politically sensitive issue no measure should be taken until certain conclusion is drawn. Which projects the image that the UN itself tried to cover up this incident temporary

Official from the Afghan Organization of Human Rights cited " we urged the Red Cross to get to the bottom of this incident only to be greeted with cold responses". The genocide is one of dirty little secrets of afghan war.
