“Only a speed of CPU is fast? A peripheral and data speed must be fast ….”

As the computer peripherals such as a digital camera and MP3 player are used frequently, the interest in USB2.0 which receives/gives the data between the peripheral and computer is getting higher.

USB2.0 is the data transmission interface with the transmission speed forty times as faster as the existing USB1.1. In recent years, there are many PC, notebook and peripheral with USB2.0.

▽ USB?〓 USB(Ultra Serial Bus) got attention as Window 90 was launched. When the existing parallel port connects the mouse while PC is turned on, PC doesn’t recognize the mouse, and so it must be rebooted. However, USB is connected and operated while PC is used. Also, it has an expansion which can connect the max. 127 peripherals.

However, as the data capacity such as an animation and music file has increased different from the past simple text documents, the users dissatisfy with the transmission speed of the existing USB1.1 (12Mbps). Because of it, Intel and Microsoft attempted to commercialize establishing the USB Standard in 1997, but it has been applied mainly in the mouse and printer restrictively.

▽How fast?〓The data transmission speed of USB2.0 is 480Mbps. The existing USB1.1 is faster than IEEE1394(FireWire, 400Mbps) known as the fastest transmission interface up to now. In moving 200 pieces of music to MP3 player, it takes over 10 minutes with USB 1.1, but it takes only 53 seconds with USB2.0. Also, it takes only 1 minute for backup of 1 giga data from PC hard drive. Only 10 seconds in scanning the high-resolution image with Scanner.

▽ Computer and peripheral which provides the USB2.0 〓USB2.0 computer peripherals include the 20GB portable hard disk of IOMEGA and ‘Predator II’ which is an external CD Writer. Sambo Computer removed the parallel port on the back of the body and showed ‘Dream Sys B1 Series’ replaced by 6 ports of US2.0.

Users who use the existing PC of USB 1.1 don’t need to fee worried. Because the USB2.0 is compatible with USB 1.1, it can use the USB 2.0 peripheral to the existing PC.

However, the speed is set for 1.1 version, the USB2.0 is separately purchased and installed in the computer to use 2.0 version peripheral properly. The link card for PC is priced at 40,000~60,000 won and the link card for notebook is priced at 120,000 won.
