[Editorial] Does Cheong Wa Dae Play Intelligence Movie?

Kim Dae Jung Administration is no longer justifiable as a government if Choi Kyu-Sun`s argument in his arrest warrant examination is true. Choi was arrested with corruption charges, in which he alleged that President Kim Dae-Jung`s third son Hong-Gul was involved. Choi testified that, “Choi Seong-Kyu, a former senior police officer, informed me that secretary Lee of Cheong Wa Dae said that Cheong Wa Dae decided to send me abroad. He also said to me that he had prepared a ship for my stowaway in Busan.” However, the suspicion is widely spreading because secretary Lee strongly denies Choi`s argument and Choi Seong-Kyu has fled and vanished in New York.

Choi`s argument cannot be ignored as an `intelligence movie like story` because of the unreasonable circumstances that have been happened. One example is the escaping of Choi Seong-Kyu, a former special investigation director of the National Police Agency who is allegedly involved in Choi`s scandal. Passing through four countries within a week, he arrived at the J.F.K. Airport in New York and escaped the airport through a special gate. The Korean consuls in New York were waiting for Choi to persuade his voluntary return to home, but they failed to see him.

Although the Korean police agency had requested nothing about him to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), Choi was classified as a `person to be interrogated in detail` and received three hours of immigration inspection. After the inspection, the INS refused the Korean consul`s meeting request and give Choi a favor to use a special exit. It was against common sense without the Korean government`s secrete influence. Therefore, a suspicion that someone is involving and helping Choi`s escape is widely spreading.

People cannot believe Cheong Wa Dae`s denial of `Choi Kyu-Sun`s stowaway plot` unless it reveals the truth of the `suspicion of Choi Seong-Kyu`s escape` because two Choi`s cases are the two sides of one coin. Without solving this scandal, Korea does not have a bright future.
