Kim Geum-Tae, standing advisor of NMDP said on the 5th, "President George. W. Bush`s address in which he defined North Korea as part of the `axis of evil` should not shake the sunshine policy which is trying to achieve peace and reconciliation between the North and South."

Mr. Kim stressed this point in his speech before the negotiation body and added, "I expect that President Bush`s visit on the 19th will be an opportunity to relax tensions in the Korean peninsula and to achieve a settlement of peace and a concrete plan devised for reopening the conversation between North Korea and the U.S."

He even said, "We can`t forget the painful memory of the U.S using the hand of dominant power to bring stability whenever democratization was about to be achieved by the effort of our people."

Afterward, Mr. Kim made critical remarks saying,"Lee Hoi Chang, the president of the GNP never apologized even though his younger brother was involved in a `tax scandal` nor did he say a word during the embezzlement of funds of agency for National Security Planning." He added, "The people are disappointed at this state of affairs, saying that he is looking to his own gains rather than taking responsibility."

He stressed, "Seeing the cases of so-called corruption `gates,` people are getting angry and frustrated. Corruption is everybody`s enemy which should be expelled. There is no revival of the economy and no national unity without exposing corruption."

He stressed r regulating corporations according to the market; rsupporting venture companies; raggressive involvement in globalization; r protecting the socially disadvantaged.
