LG-Caltex Oil women`s team avenges last year`s title loss

The preliminary contest between the archrivals that clashed for the Super League championship in 2000 was predictably fierce this year. After a thrilling back and forth match, it was last year`s runner-up who left the court with a smile.

LG-Caltex Oil women`s volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory in the finals against its nemesis Hyundai Engineering and Construction.

LG edged Hyundai 3-2 in the five-set competition in the championship round of league play at Chamsil Students` Gymnasium, Tuesday, finishing with a record of nine wins against three losses.

In the men`s division, the military team Sangmu trounced LG Insurance 3-1 to take third place in the tournament, thanks mostly to a solid performance of Kwon Soon-Chan. Kwon scored 17 points and racked up seven key blocks in the victory.
