Digital video disk players (DVDP) developed by Samsung Electronics will be used to introduce museumgoers in Sweden to the achievements and careers of Nobel Prize winners.

Samsung Electronics said Sunday that it would supply the ¡°Nobel Museum,¡± to be completed by the Nobel Prize Foundation in Sweden in April this year, with both DVDPs and thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) monitors.

Along with the TFT-LCD monitors delivered last November, the 26 DVDPs will be used at the museum semipermanently to give visitors to the museum deeper insight into the Nobel laureates.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize, the museum is planning to hold touring fairs in the world¡¯s major cities, including Seoul, Tokyo, San Francisco, and Berlin, starting in 2002. The fair is expected to greatly enhance Samsung`s brand image.

A Samsung official said, ¡°We succeeded in obtaining the supply contract thanks to our aggressive marketing strategy in the Swedish market, as shown by the fact that sales of Samsung`s DVDP made up 37% of the Swedish market in December last year, the highest of any electronics manufacturer.¡±
