Digital TV sets produced by Zenith, a U.S.-based subsidiary of LG Electronics, were used for events related to the inauguration of U.S. president George W. Bush.
According to LG Electronics Saturday, 10 Zenith 60-inch projection TVs and 30 Zenith TVs with 27-, 32-, or 36-inch flat screens were used as monitors for participants at the concert to celebrate the inauguration, which was held at the Lincoln Memorial Hall Thursday.
Also, some 50 digital TVs, including 40-inch PDP TVs and 36-inch high-definition full-flat TVs, will make their debut at the presidential inauguration ceremony to be held at the U.S. Congress Saturday. The TVs will be used to allow attendees to get a better view of the event, an LG official said.
The digital TV sets were transported by air to Washington from Las Vegas, where Zenith was participating in the international home electronic products exhibition.
Noting that it expects the use of LG-produced digital TVs as monitors at the presidential inauguration ceremony and at last October's Republican Party Convention to generate marketing effects, the company said it was planning to aggressively attack the U.S. digital TV market using the Zenith brand.
