It has been revealed that during the fourth inter-Korean ministerial level talks, which resumed at the Koryo Hotel in Pyongyang, the North Korean government has formally requested assistance in electrical power supply amounting to 2 million kilowatts.
A second round of such requests following the request made at the third ministerial level talks in September on Cheju Island informally hinted at the grave power shortage faced by North Korea.
The North also proposed to open certain areas of the North's coastal region for South's fishermen to conduct a cooperative fishing industry with the North and to further discuss the details between the two governments. The North also sought collaboration for the joint promotion of the Korean martial art, Taekwondo, in order to unify the diverging forms between the two states.
In addition, the talks continued to hammer out the details of various previously agreed on issues that failed to materialize such as the third set of family reunions. The two sides announced it would make a formal joint announcement Dec. 15.
