Things are looking up: Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush gives the thumbs up sign in a meeting Tuesday after the U.S. Supreme Court reversed a Florida supreme court decision on recounts in the state. Some commentators said the decision effectively ended the presidential ambitions of rival candidate Al Gore, 35 days after Americans went to the polls.
