Software industry to be promoted

President Kim Dae-Jung revealed Monday that 500 billion won would be spent by 2005 to establish and expand information-communications related academic programs and augment overseas scholarship programs in order to nurture more info-communications experts.

President Kim participated in the Software 2000 and the 18th ASOCIO (Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization) General Assembly & Symposium, where he remarked that efforts would be made to promote the digital contents and software industries.

He added that measures would be taken to promote e-commerce while at the same time preventing ¡°side-effects.¡± A legal and regulatory foundation will be set up for the protection of personal information and the prevention of hacking and computer viruses.
