Postage stamps manufactured jointly by South and North Korea will be issued early next month.

It was reported that South and North Korean authorities came close to an agreement on manufacturing stamps to commemorate an array of inter-Korean events.

Southern officials announced Monday that the North had proposed on Oct. 27 the issuance of four kinds of stamps to commemorate the first inter-Korean summit held in Pyongyang last June, the second summit to be held in Seoul next year, the Seoul-Shinuiju railroad under construction and the tourist exchange between Mts. Paektu and Halla. South and North Korea have already issued stamps to commemorate the Pyongyang summit separately.

It takes about 60 days to manufacture and issue stamps. So, the officials said that the two Koreas will jointly issue stamps for only three events.
