Grand National Party leader Lee Hoi-Chang on Monday called on President Kim Dae-Jung to present himself at a National Assembly session to explain the background of the public funds requested for the bailout of troubled banks and apologize for the shady run-up to the deep plight of the banking sector.
In calling for the personal appearance of the president before the parliament to elaborate on the requirement for 50 trillion won in additional bank rescue package, which he said was also brought up during his bipartisan parley with President Kim, the opposition leader added that the president now has more things to do after winning the Nobel prize and the economy seems to be going from bad to worse these days.
