North Korea has proposed the establishment of diplomatic relations with nine European countries, including Germany, the Korea Central News Agency reported Thursday.

To this end, North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam-Sun has sent letters to the officials concerned in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and Britain, calling for the establishment of mutual diplomatic ties, the Pyongyang mouthpiece announced.

Out of the nine countries, Germany came out with an immediate response through a government spokesman, saying that the German-North Korean rapprochement depends on the future political developments in North Korea, indicating that Germany had no intention to enter into formal relations with Pyongyang at the present.
