The Korean youth baseball team has risen to the top after a 6-year struggle.

At the 19th World Youth Baseball Championships held in Edmonton, Canada, the Korean team won a hard fought victory against the U.S., who had defeated Cuba, by finishing the final game in the 13th inning with a score of 9-7.

This is the third championship title for Korea since the youth team won in Newark, U.S. in 1981 and in Canada in 1994.

As shown by the number of hits each team got, Korea 13 and the U.S. 13, the game was an intense battle of batting skills.

The thrilling game came to an end in the 13th with the score at 7-7. With runners on second and third and 2 outs, Park Myung-Ok (Sokcho H.S.) hit a 2 RBI single to center field, bringing Korea the championship trophy.
