Drug smugglers arrested

The Seoul Public Prosecutors¡¯Office indicted 20-year-old Korean-American college student Cho Mi-Hwa today for smuggling and consuming the narcotics Ecstasy and and LSD. Another Korean-American, 25-year-old bartender Seo Moon-Kyung, was put on the wanted list for similar charges.

20-year-old Private 1st Class Clinton Shane Sloan of the U.S. Forces Korea was indicted for selling LSD and given a non-restraining order based on the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).

According to prosecutors, Cho flew in from New York hiding 481 pills of Ecstasy in her shoe soles, and sold the drugs to 24-year-old magazine editor Kim Kyung-Joong. Seo, who was charged with drug abuse, gave 3.5 million won to Kim in exchange for 80 pills.

Prosecutors say that a wave of new drugs has recently hit the local market with Korean-American college students and other Koreans studying abroad entering the country for the summer.
