In the July 12 list of recommended players for the 2000 All-Star, Kim Ki-Tae (31) of Samsung was excluded from the roster.

Kim who has been wearing Samsung¡¯s uniform since last year, had never missed an All-Star game since his stay with the Ssangbangwool Raiders.

From his first debut in 1991 to last year, Kim had been picked for All-Star either by the votes of fans or through the recommendation from coaches. Kim who had played at the All-Star for 9 consecutive seasons, failed to reach the 10th year as both votes from fans and recommendations from coaches fell short in placing Kim in the field.

However, during a game against Hanhwa at Taejon, Kim hit a grand slam. During the 4th inning with the Eagles in lead of 2-0, the tides were turned as Kim made a base-loaded homer.

Kim¡¯s grand slam homer not only marked the 13th victory for the Lions but it was also Kim¡¯s 8th grand slam, putting Kim in the lead of Shin Dong-Joo of Samsung with 6 grand slams.

As the number of grand slams states, the ¡®Grand Slam Man¡¯ Kim is a man of chance.

Kim who brushed off his frustration with one huge stroke came to finally enjoy the ¡®All-Star vacation¡¯ after 10 years¡¯ of his debut
