Apology for suicide of a franchise agent

Park Jae-goo (right), the president of the BFG Retail who runs the convenience store chain CU, and other executives give an apology to the people for the suicide of a franchise agent who had been in conflict with the company, after reading a statement of apology at the Textile Center in southern Seoul on Thursday.

Park admitted that the company falsified the death certificate of the franchise agent to distribute to the media. The company announced countermeasures, including an establishment of a center for voluntary dispute resolution composed of franchise agents and external experts and a body for troubleshooting welfare issues, and creating a 14 billion won (12.4 million U.S. dollars) fund for co-prosperity of both franchise agents and the company.
