The rainy spell is expected to begin nationwide today.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast yesterday, “A seasonal rain front is formed above the inland provinces of southern China, the East China Sea and the South Sea of Japan, and will move to the north approaching the Korean Peninsula. The entire country is likely to have precipitations.

The weather agency said the rain front will affect the nation as it moves around the resort island of Jeju.

According to the agency, it will stop raining on June 20 temporarily, but start raining again the next day.

The rainy spell this year comes four days earlier than last year and 2-7 days earlier than the average.

Last year, the weather agency predicted the beginning and end of the rainy season through its one-month or three-month forecasts, but decided not to forecast the ending point this year.

The agency said forecasting the ending point of the rainy season seems unnecessary because it has often continued to rain even after the projected time in recent years.
