Congressman Jim Leach (Republican, Iowa) of the Committee on International Relations, who is also the Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, brought up the North Korea Freedom Bill to the committee again with the modified name of “North Korean Human Rights Act” which he had presented in November of last year for the improvement of North Korean human rights and the support of defectors.

This bill deals mainly with promoting human rights in North Korea, humanitarian support, and the protection of North Korean refugees.
