Remote Control of Home Appliances by Mobile Phone

As the user accesses to the Internet by the mobile phone in a remote area, the phone displays a list of electric home appliances in a house. When selecting an air-conditioner and set a desired temperature to 18 degree, the air conditioner is automatically operated.

When the user clicks the remote control button, TV screen displays a picture of a washing machine, refrigerator and microwave. When the user clicks the washing machine and selects `boiling laundry`, the drum washing machine is operated.

The above description is an instruction of LG Home Network System demonstrated in Inter-continental hotel, Samsung-dong Gangnam-gu Seoul on November 25. LG Electronics had a performance of home network system on the day and announced the active commercialization of future advanced home network.

▽ First Commercialization of Home Network System 〓 Home network system of LG Electronics commercialized with the brand called `LG Home Net` combines 6 electric home appliances of refrigerator, TV, washing machine, air conditioner, gas oven range and micro wave in the network. It is the first time to commercialize the active home network system configured with various products in the world.

Each electronic home appliance is connected each other without cable by putting only power plug because it is connected with PLC (Power line communication). LG Electronics has used `LnCP` technology which is a standard developed for PLC of 9600bps speed. The internet DIOS refrigerator or X canvas TV has the server function and so it connects the electric home appliances of the home with the external high speed internet network.

▽ Home Network Vision 〓 Ku Ja-Hong, vice-president of LG Electronics announced, “Using the any service with any device anywhere at any time is a target of Home network system.” LG Electronics plans to launch the various home network product and service through joint business with telecommunication companies, construction companies and home-automation companies. It plans to concentrate in the foreign market entry for the world market occupancy in the field estimated at USD 360 in 2005.

For it, it opened the portal dream LG (www.DreamLG.co.kr) specialized in supporting the use of home network of consumers and providing the remote access, security and contents. At that day, the exhibition introduced the home automation service which operates an indoor light or gas valve by using the refrigerator and monitoring CCTV through TV.
