Operating Ceremony for ‘Novell’ of the Third Super Computer in KISTI

Super computer is symbolic of national power. Super Computing Center(head of center: Lee Sang-San), KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information) in Daedeok Science Town had a ceremony for ‘Novell’ which is the third super computer on July 12. The super computer retained by the institute was the 158th speedy computer in the world. However, as it introduced the super computer of ‘IBM p690’, this institute has retained the 4th speedy super computer in the world. Because this computer can calculate 4,240,000,000,000 times a second, it is faster 2000 times as faster as Pentium 4 Computer. If the man can calculate with the calculator, it can finish only in one second for calculation of approx. 3,500,000 years-spending calculation.
