Samsung Electronics has announced that the company will realign its app store next March by renaming its application market "Galaxy Store," which is currently named Galaxy Apps, and displaying it on Home screen of their smartphones. Galaxy Store will offer Korean and global popular games exclusively. The Korean electronics company is committed to becoming a hub for distributing gaming apps in collaboration with Korean and global gaming businesses, which feel burdened with an excessive commission of 30 percent by Google and Apple.

“We risk everything on gaming," Thomas Ko, vice president and global head of service innovations at Samsung, said at a networking event for the gaming industry in Busan. "Samsung's 700 million devices will serve as a basis to change the ecosystem of the app market, which is currently dominated by Google and others." Separately from "G-Star 2018," the event started on Thursday to continue for four days at the BEXCO in Busan.

Samsung’s eager for entering the gaming market is because that the most part of sales regarding apps are generated from the area, which shows off an explosive growth. Among the global volume of application expenditure, worth 81.66 billion dollars or 92.2758 trillion won, the game industry accounts for 78.8 percent. With the growth of the overall device market stalled, demands for high-end products are made by users who enjoy playing high quality gaming services. Samsung can solidify its competitiveness in hardware by concentrating on gaming software.
