“'God, if you think I'm supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.' And I haven't gotten that,” Oprah Winfrey said in an interview for the cover story of the People magazine, which was released Wednesday (local time). The 64-year-old media giant is fast emerging as a candidate for the 2020 U.S. presidential elections after her inspiring speech at the 2018 Golden Globes in January. The star of the Golden Globes hinted at her willingness to run for presidency “so long as there is a message from God.”
In TV shows and public occasions, Winfrey was often seen making criticizing comments against U.S. President Donald Trump. A February survey found Winfrey overwhelming Donald Trump by 10 percentage points in a virtual showdown.
After the Golden Globes award ceremony, Winfrey had many interviews with media outlets but ruled out the possibility of her running for the election, saying, “I don’t not have the DNA for it. I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not.”
