“And as I like to tell the ‘C’ students: You, too, can be President.”

Former U.S. President George W. Bush delivered this message in his keynote speech at a university’s commencement ceremony, winning massive applauses. Bush made the remarks in his commencement speech at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, after congratulating the graduating students by saying that “Most of all, I congratulate the members of the Class of 2015. You worked hard to reach this milestone.” More than 2,000 audience members burst into laughter to hear his remarks, enthusiastically applauding, the Associated Press reported.

Former President Bush is a graduate of Yale University, one of the Ivy League schools in the U.S. East. On the reason he chose the school to deliver his first commencement speech since retirement as president in 2009, Bush said, “I was relieved to hear President Turner ask if I believed in free speech. I said yeah.” SMU has a memorial library for the former U.S. leader.

Ahead of legalization of same-sex marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court next month, former President Bush said, “It is essential to this nation`s future that we remember that the freedom to worship who we want, and how we want—or not worship at all—is a core belief of our founding.” “And as I like to tell the ‘C’ students: You, too, can be President.”
