American actress Angelina Jolie (aged 40, pictured) was named as the most admired woman in the world in 2015.

YouGove, an international Internet-based market research firm in the U.K., has conducted a survey of 25,000 people in 23 countries on "the most admired people alive in the world today" from December 2014 to January 2015. The Hollywood superstar topped the list with the highest 10.6 points among the women, said the research firm on Saturday.

As one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, Jolie has also made a name promoting humanitarian causes in areas of refugee rescue and eradication of sexual violence in war, including serving as a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Last year, the actress received honorary damehood by the British Queen.

Pakistani human right and education activist Malala Yousafzai, who became the youngest person in history to win the Nobel Prize for peace at the age of 17 last year, came in second with 7.1 points, followed by former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (6.4 points), Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II (6) and the U.S. President Barack Obama’s first lady Michelle Obama (4.8).

Microsoft founder Bill Gates was named the most admired man with 9.2 points. The U.S. President Barack Obama (6.4) took the second place and Chinese President Xi Jinping was close behind with 5.3 points.
