At Sajik Park from Seoul`s Deoksu Palace on Sunday, royal carriages on Sunday begin their trip to the altar for the Sajik Great Fete, a traditional ceremony of the Joseon Dynasty to pray for national peace and a good harvest. The ancestor-worship ceremony is meant to honor the gods Sa, who controls land, and Jik, who manages grain, with the attendance of the Joseon king and civil and military officials. The event was designated Intangible Cultural Asset No. 111 by the Korean government in 2000.
