A foreigner was named as the president of a university for the first time in Korean history. Professor Robert Laughlin from Stanford University, a Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics, was inaugurated as the president of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) on July 14. President Laughlin said, I am as happy as I was when I received the Nobel Prize. I feel like a king, before his inauguration at the welcoming event held in front of the main building of the university.
