President Park Geun-hye has dismissed concerns over Korea`s recent foreign policies regarding the recent decisions on the China-led Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank and the proposed U.S. deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, in Korea.

At a luncheon meeting with three senior staff, senior secretaries and special aides at the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae on Tuesday, the president said, "Media is saying `Oh no! We`re in trouble` because we are sandwiched between powerful nations, but there is no need for that," an official quoted President Park as telling. "We decided things in a resolute manner based on a comprehensive view on various information," she reportedly said.

"I hope we have national pride, confidence, positive thinking and a challenging spirit. Trust is important, and both principle and consistency should be the basis for foreign and economic policy," President Park stressed.

Her remarks share the same vein with those of Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se the previous day who said, "We are sought after from both the U.S. and China. This is not a trouble or dilemma but a blessing."

President Park also encouraged the attendees at the luncheon by saying, "Hard times always come. Sometime later we will be able to smile recalling we had overcome various difficulties."
