Golf wunderkind Lydia Ko has expressed high hopes for college life to begin in her homeland of Korea and passion for learning.

According to an announcement on Friday, Ko has been accepted to the Korea University’s Department of Psychology as special case admissions for Korean residents in foreign countries to begin in 2015. She said through her agency IMG that she hopes and plans to get higher learning. “I have been interested in psychology and I chose my major since I want to understand people from a psychological level, myself included.” A source close to her said, “If she had chosen physical studies, she would have had a better time combining learning with her athletic life. But she is highly motivated to study.”

Ko added, "I am a New Zealander by nationality but I was born in Seoul. I therefore always have Korea deep inside my heart. I am happy to learn at Korea University, with its long and illustrious tradition.”

The golfer completed her stellar season on Monday by winning the CME Group Tour Championship in the LPGC circuit in Florida, the U.S. and is currently relishing a rare break near Oakland, New Zealand. She says she is going to see films and spending time with friends as befits a teen girl, and is planning to visit Korea late this year.

In the coming year, she plans to train with world-renowned golf instructor David Leadbetter in Florida and will compete in the Coates Golf Championship, which is set as an opening tournament for the 2015 season on Jan. 28 next year.
