Restoration of Korea`s top cultural treasure

Painting work begins for the traditional Korean gate Sungnyemun, which is designated National Treasure No. 1. A painter paints the second floor of the gate Thursday. The colors of the early Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) of Korea have been revived for the project with natural glue and colors. The painting will be completed by the end of October. In the restoration process for the gate, 87 percent of the work has been completed and the remainder will be finished by year`s end.
