The private residence of the first Roman Emperor, Gaius Octavius, where he stayed before his enthronement is now open to the public for the first time. This residence, standing on the Palatine Hill, Rome, was discovered 50 years ago, and the Italian government has been restoring the building ever since spending a budget of 200,000 euros. The photograph posted on the Web site of Italy’s Culture Ministry shows the guestroom adorned with fresco painted in 30 B.C.
