Presidential Special Envoy

Chief Presidential Security Adviser Baek Jong-chun, dispatched to Afghanistan as the presidential special envoy, met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai yesterday at the presidential office in Kabul to discuss measures to rescue Koreans taken hostages by Taliban members. Baek reportedly requested the Afghanistan government take a flexible approach to the release of Taliban prisoners, which the kidnappers have demanded.
