Made public after 451 years.

The chief priest of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Rome, Italy, Cardinal Andrea Cordero Lanza di Montezemolo, is showing St. Paul’s sarcophagus placed in the cathedral’s basement burial grounds. The underground burial grounds were closed in 1545, and it has been 450 years since they were last opened to the public. Whether or not this sarcophagus contains St. Paul’s ashes is not proven. St. Paul’s skull is placed in St. John Lateran Cathedral.
